N. ampullaria var. rubra ('Cantley's Red'), lower pitcher, in cultivation   Nepenthes ampullaria
N. ampullaria may be found in the marshy, lowland forest areas of Borneo, Thailand, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and New Guinea. The squat, pot-shaped lower pitchers commonly grow as basal rosettes within the forest litter. Upper pitchers are rare. Dominant colour forms are green or speckled. The very rare 'Cantley's Red' form may be found in some areas of Borneo. Cultivation is moderately easy provided high humidity is maintained.
