N. distillatoria is endemic to Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Found in open swampy lowland areas, it has three distinct colour forms: greeny yellow, pinky brown and more rarely purple. The lower pitchers are stocky and bulbous in shape whilst the upper pitchers are elongated similar in form to N. khasiana. Cultivation is easy and it is a most vigorous species.
