| N. mirabilis
var. echinostoma is an extreme variant of the more common
N. mirabilis and is found exclusively up to an altitude
of about 200m in Brunei on the island of Borneo. It
differs from N. mirabilis in several respects, but
particularly in the raised teeth on the peristome that
give rise to it's name. It is easy to cultivate but has
soft leaves lacking a protective waxy layer and is
therefore not tolerant of extremes such as low humidity. |
