| N.
northiana grows exclusively on limestone cliffs at around
300m elevation in the Bau region of Borneo near Kuching.
This species has beautiful large pitchers and leaves and
first came to the attention of botanists through a
painting by Marrianne North, hence its name. Lower
pitchers are often suspended on unusually long tendrils.
Though not a plant for beginners, N. northiana can be
grown successfully in cultivation given the right lowland
conditions. |
