| N.
rafflesiana is widespread throughout Borneo, Peninsular
Malaysia and Sumatra in lowlands up to about 1,000m. It
has tubby lower pitchers and totally different elegant
upper pitchers. It is one of the most variable of all
Nepenthes species since in addition to the standard form,
there is an elegant elongated form, a miniature elongated
form, a giant form, and many other variants. Pitcher
colourations range from pale green through pink, red
flecked to maroon. There is also an all-white pitchered
form except for beautiful red teeth to the peristome. It
is easy to cultivate and forgiving of short periods of
extreme conditions. |
