N. spectabilis, upper pitcher, in habitat   Nepenthes spectabilis  
N.spectabilis grows amongst the sub-alpine shrubs of the mountains of Northern Sumatra between altitudes of 1450 - 200m. The pitchers are characteristically long and slender in appearance with an elongated mouth, flatterned peristome and reddish brown flecks. This species grows well in highland cultivation conditions.
