N.veitchii lowland form, upper pitcher, in habitat   Nepenthes veitchii  
Named after the famous 19 century botanist J.Veitch, N. veitchii, is undoubtably one of the most spectacular of the nepentheceae. This species has two distinct forms growing between 55 - 1200m. the lowland variety with a golden, broad, flattened peristome and a narrow lid, grows in lowland forest near rivers. By contrast the highland form has a green and red streaked peristome and a rounded lid and may be found on mossy forest ridges. This species is native to Central Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah and Kalimantan.
