It is our belief that there is no definable limit to the market potential of these plants. Demand for our produce is rising dramatically and we have ideas now being implemented for mass marketing certain forms.

However, for commercial reasons we can’t say too much right now! We are also experimenting with other genera of plants and are involved in conservation projects to propagate extremely rare species whose natural habitat is being degraded or destroyed.

A new tissue culture laboratory and R&D facility is planned for completion by the middle of this year and we shall soon be moving our lowland nurseries from the current leased premises to land which we own.

In total Borneo Exotics owns about 5 hectares of land at various altitudes which gives us plenty of scope for expansion. In general, our growth has been very rapid with the number of full-time employees now over 30 from just 20 a year ago.

In the past we have not put much effort into exhibiting our plants internationally, preferring to concentrate our resources on production of quality stock. In 2005 however, we’re looking forward to exhibiting at the ICPS Conference in Lyon France and also at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Great Autumn Show in London. Perhaps we’ll meet some of you there!
